Operation: Clean Closet

This morning I decided it was about time. Having been away from home for more than three months my closet was seriously messy. I felt embarrassed by just looking at it especially since quite often I am asked to organize other people’s closets. But usually this is what happens: you do other people’s closets and you finally end up not having the time to organize your own..

This is just one fourth of my wardrobe, mainly everyday clothes. But still a lot of these clothes have not been worn and their tags are just hanging screaming: “Wear Me! Wear Me!” What a shame…
So I was sitting and watching all these labels and decided I should do something about it. I should start wearing these clothes, don’t you think? And even though I believe there exist more than enough OOTD columns out there, I thought I could be doing something useful to my readers: offer them some inspiration.
But first I will have to give this wardrobe a good shuffle.
Now, if you want to make over your closets visit Real Simple and get the inspiration you need to help you kickstart your project. Or you could simply call me in to help!
So there you go, soon I will be posting photos of my outfits. Pay attention!!!

Oman : a photo gallery

I’m back from our short trip to Oman and although I have a hectic schedule these days I still feel like sharing some photos with you as I believe a picture is worth a million words. Some of these photos you may also find on my Instagram account: idolimages

We had a great stay at Shangri-La Al Husn Hotel. Then we were taken fishing. We caught nothing more than footage in our cameras (editing project number 24 on my to-do list? bear with me please!) but we loved exploring the beaches.

Our host saved the best for last: The revelation: The road trip to Jebel Akhdar (The Green Mountain), high up to 2,400 mtrs. And we were left speechless!

Oh! And I shouldn’t forget: a special thanks to my “panoramic view” photographer and of course to our host! (They know who they are!) xxxx

Thanks Maria, I’m glad to (finally) answer all of your questions:

When did you know fashion/beauty was your calling? – Since I was a little kid, about 9 years old. I remember my fashion mentor: auntie Eve bringing me all the nice stuff from her trips to Paris. I started making fashion drawings around that time. By the age of twelve I had made my first handbag out of an old pair of jeans and I was spending my pocket money to fashion magazines.

How long have you had your blog? – idol-image.com is up for the last 3 years. But I had experimented with other blogs before that.

Would you want to be a personal makeup artist or stylist? – I am a stylist and I do my friends’ makeup, among other things.

What is your favorite color? P!nk – now you know my favorite singer too.

What is your favorite quote? – Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. Aristotle.

Jeans or shorts? – Jeans in Bahrain, shorts in Greece (my legs tanned).

Business or casual? – Hmmm… smart casual.

Favorite makeup product? – Dior’s Rosy Glow

You’re on a desert island…what three items are in your purse? – My iPhone, my iPad and a solar powered charger.

Favorite fashion accessory? – Bag of course!

What is your dream job? – If I were reborn I would have become a musician.

Now it’s my turn! and here are my nominations:

#signaturescent : Jo Malone

It was a british scented afternoon, and a warm embrace for the launch of Jo Malone‘s boutique at Bahrain’s City Center Mall. Debbie Wild, Lifestyle Director, traveled all the way from UK and  introduced us all who attended the special event, to the arts of fragrance combining and gift giving in a unique way.

The set up at Le Meridien’s Baharat Restaurant resembled a family dinner as per Debbie and we couldn’t agree more. The atmosphere was friendly and pleasantly fragrant :). Tea and pastries were served but we were mainly anticipating to open our gifts that were gracefully placed on our plates.

Velvet Rose and Oud Cologne.

Although I like smelling it on others, I’m not a fan of Oud but certainly I didn’t expect that it could be tailored to my liking simply by mixing it up with another scent!

Debbie impressed everyone with her ability to memorize all the names of the guests. And believe me they were many.
After her short talk Debbie invited us at the perfume bar where she helped us experiment with the fragrance combining concept taking into consideration our personal preferences. And surprise – surprise! My new Velvet-Rose & Oud cologne when combined with my favorite Peony and Velvet Blush, becomes so light, sweet and delicious!
After that I wanted more! and more! A crisp and fresh combination from heaven: Wild Bluebell and Red Roses. The combinations are endless and you can experiment online here, although nothing compares to the real deal so better hit Jo Malone’s boutique at City Center for a profound experience. Trust me, your senses will thank you!

For a little inspiration, here is their song “Just Be” which was released last year…
