A gap between how we perceive ourselves and how we are perceived by others, is not something uncommon. Here is one of the most smart experiments to prove this scenario happens more often than we think and to a much larger scale than we believe. Although published almost a year ago, I chose to post this Dove documentary because its launch coincides with my birthday and I couldn’t find any better reminder of how we should never underestimate ourselves. The same of course applies for the opposite: never overestimate yourself. In any case, mind the gap.
Three halls dipped in gold, silver and precious stones… For yet another year Jewellery Arabia had everything: From mythical collections brought by famous jewelry and watches’ houses to affordable bling bling or even copies of iconic jewelry…
My favorite was Bulgari’s pavilion.
Partly because it hit my “greek sensors”…
First it was the minimalistic dummies on which the beautiful jewelry was showcased and that would resemble figurines borrowed from a Cycladic Art museum.
Then, some of their jewelry showed clear influence from the ancient Mycenaean art. Just look and compare:
Is it my idea? Anyways, their jewelry was exceptional and unique.
Chopard had a beautiful pavilion too and is my favorite of all jewelry makers, but I believe their selection for the exhibition was limited, I can’t hide that I have seen better pieces -for my taste at least- when visiting their shops around the world. Nevertheless they had some really classy men’s watches.
And talking about men’s watches, Montblanc presented their newest collection, a tribute to Nicolas Rieussec, the inventor of the chronograph. Quite interesting.
Then the classic “Princess Grace” collection with watches, pens, and jewelry. Pure Grace.
Finally, the limited edition Leonardo and Albert Ainstein pen collection.
I don’t think I have watched anything like this before. Kevin Richardson, the “lion whisperer” teams up with the GoPro crew and they all take us to the “soft side” of the wild life…
Need an idea for this year’s Halloween party? Watch Cindysold’s video for a totally creepy, horror doll make-over!!!
Using the finest of Greek marbles, sculptor Grigoris Kouskouris presents his new inspiration: Alternative kitchenware. Simple and elegant artifacts for the passionate inquisitor of the art de la table, these masterpieces bring the Greek finesse and luxury in our everyday lives.
His exhibition “Alternative Kitchenware” opens at the central square of Pyrgos, on the magical Santorini island on the 15th of October at 20:00 and we would love to be there and admire his work.
Although we are sure we will be posting more about this great artist and his amazing sculptures, for a feast of the eyes you may visit his website: http://www.kouskouris.gr
This gal did it again. She made me fall in love with her new collection “Legs for days” and I ‘m going to get in trouble spending money on shoes I don’t actually need (Aren’t 79 pairs more than enough? Or should I round the number?)
If you are a shoe lover (or addict like me) and haven’t yet seen Taylor Reeve’s one of a kind collections, then you are missing a lot. Because the “crazy blondie from South California” is a genius who touches our soles (and souls) with her magic brush in order to create masterpieces on which we can step elegantly. Red signature soles are ok, but what’s even better is funky art on your soles that will buzz WOWs all around you! Convinced? Then you should definitely visit Taylor Says.
As for my favorite pair? KA BOOM!!! I’m sooooo buying them!
I have been using Urban Decay Primer Potions for few months and thought of doing a review for you guys. I purchased them from Blanchardstown Shopping Centre in Ireland, while I was there on holiday.
Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion
If you’d like to achieve that flawless look, try Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion, before you apply your foundation.
It’s light and airy, oil-free and paraben-free makes your skin look youthful, bright and firm, and foundation will apply smoothly and evenly.
I think this is an ideal for skin that need moisture, it feel wet when you apply it to your face. When it dries out, it feels sticky, but I think you need that to keep your foundation/make up staying on and last longer.
Eyeshadow Primer Potion
This is a favourite among beauty gurus and bloggers, if you have ever watched makeup videos on YouTube or check out beauty blogs frequently, chances are that you have heard about “Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion” quite often.
For all you divas who loves to wear eye shadow, primer is a necessity. This primer evens out the colour of your eyelids, prevents creasing and helps eye shadow stay on longer. The only thing is, it makes the eye shadow stick so well, blending anything becomes a nightmare. So I personally use this primer when I use a single colour on my lids, and then add some eye liner.
If you have used or currently using the above products, it would be great if you share your opinion with us.
I have planned my summer holidays to the beautiful Balearic Island of Ibiza. Here are few things I bought recently for my trip. I put an out- fit idea, which I’ll be wearing to hang out at my favourite place, Blue Marlin, Ibiza with my hubby.
I’ll be dressing up this beautiful (1) kimono style top from Miss Selfridges over my bikini with these stunning (2) statement necklace I bought from Stradivarius. And pair it up with these (3) snakeskin wedges from New look. As for makeup it’ll be a bit of (4) Maybelline BB cream in Universal glow over (5) Mac Prep + Prime SPF 50 (6) MAC Spring Sheen Blush and (7) Bobbi Brown Nectar Brightening Lip gloss.
Mac Springsheen Blush – It’s got the most gorgeous Peachy colour. It’s a sheertone shimmer blush, which is perfect for day time. As it’s got a gold (with a hint of pearl) finish to it, it works as a highlighter as well. A very subtle summary colour and one of those blushes that gives you a fresh look. If I use it for a night out I would combine it with another blush just to make the colour pop.
Statement Necklace – Look at this beautiful, beautiful statement necklace (was on for a bargain @ sale). I love the colour turquoise, as it goes with most of my clothes in the wardrobe and can be worn in so many different ways, ie; with my LBD, jeans with a simple t-shirt etc etc.
Blue Marlin, Ibiza – It may not be the place for everyone, but I absolutely love everything about this place. The music, the people, food, the beach etc etc. It’s such an amazing place that instantly makes me happy. I will be posting some photos for you when I am there. http://www.bluemarlinibiza.com
You know……it’s ok to love being the centre of attention sometimes……..
As a result of having my 3 gorgeous babies, my tummy was left with some stretch marks, which I was very conscious of.
Though Bio-Oil has been in the market since 2002 and I had heard about it, I only bought it few years ago while I was on holiday in Dublin, during one of my many shopping trips to Pavilion Shopping Centre in Swords.
I tried it and it made my skin feel soft. I have been using it for few years now and my stretch marks have definitely started to look better.
Bio Oil is no ordinary oil, it has positioned itself well amongst body creams to be the best to reduce the appearance of all scars both old and new. It helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin while preventing stretch marks from developing when our body goes through changes like pregnancy, weight loss etc. Bio Oil also banish dryness, smoothes, firms and nourishes aging and wrinkled skin.
It’s worth investing your money on this one.
It seems that every summer I have a thing with retro swimwear. It simply makes you feel like the diva of the beach and why not? the next Bond girl. Usually a retro swimsuit draws all attention to your curves (which some women might want to avoid), but hey, we are women and we should celebrate our curves!
The beach retro frenzy this summer (from left to right):
Michael Kors: 1. high waist bikini, 2. metallic ikat print retro bikini, 3. plunge ruffle maillot, 4. ruched bandeau one piece
Marc Jacobs: 1. color block peplum maillot, 2. molly check bandeau, 3. stripey mademoiselle danger
Juicy Couture: 1. prima donna ruffle top, 2. itsy bitsy polka dot bottom, 3. prima donna ruffle bandeau maillot, 4. betty jean bandeau maillot, paisley park monokini.
I already own the last two from juicy couture and can’t wait to show them off at the beach!!
Don’t forget your oversized or cat eye shades and your wide brim hat.. Bond girl… 🙂
