#ootd: Geometry Patterns

IMG_0439

In the mood for celebrating our friend’s birthday. I even sang “Happy birthday mr. President” for the birthday boy 🙂

And since I received tons of questions about my outfit, here it is: Dress by Juicy Couture. Showstopper heels by Taylor Says. Rose gold bracelet made by me and my fitness tracker (I will be writing about in another post): Misfit Shine.

As for the amazing Taylor Says heels for which I have written in the past, here’s some of my favorite pairs out of her new collection:

September Obsessions

After spending two months in Greece I’m back with loads of news to share with you and a couple of surprises. But first things first. After all, September is the month of pulling yourself together, getting back to your routine, and planning for the months ahead. In my world, it’s the month of obsessions, it’s when I crave for changes and when I scan all fashion trends in order to make my winter wish-list.

Obsession #1 – Hair Color

All of you who follow me on Instagram (idolimages) you probably already know that I changed my hair a bit into a lovely rose gold color.

IMG_0413

I would be willing to try silver too but I’m so obsessed with the rose-gold after I’ve seen it on myself that I guess this shade is here to stay. If you are after a funky change like myself, I suggest you follow Lihn Phan’s @bescene on Instagram for inspiration. If you’re afraid experimenting with the color of your hair I recommend you try Bleach London or Stargazer semi-permanent colors which only last for a few washes. And then who knows? You might fall in love with your new shade and run straight to your hairstylist to make it stay for as long as you wish.

Obsession #2 – Backpack

One of my surprises involves a trip far far away from my home base which I hope I will be v-logging for you. But since I started planning the trip I realized my wardrobe is missing a traveller’s most basic accessory: the backpack. So I searched..

Moschino backpack available at luisaviaroma.com for $695
Mmm.., “too preppy”…  so I searched..
11054923_5095256_1000
Michael Kors studded backpack for $358 at Macy’s.
too many studs… and I searched..
chanel
Chanel graffiti backpack available on eBay for around $15,000
GEE! I ain’t gonna spend this much on a backpack despite its beauty!!!
So I ended up being obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff ‘s Julian, available at Bloomingdales for $395 (or BHD 160). It gives the boho impression I was looking for and it’s not as pricey as others.8723485_fpx.tif
But I don’t know whether to buy the leather or the suede version, which takes us to:

Obsession #3 Suede

And by the way, THE TREND for autumn 2015. Apart from my suede booties I love suede pants and suede bags. Suede may be delicate but I love its texture and slouchiness. And here is my Proenza Schouler PS1 pride. Bought from matchesfashion.com  who btw offer free shipping for a limited time! IMG_2686

Obsession #4 Clogs

Talking about suede, another trend coming from the 70’s is invading our wardrobe this season and it’s amazing in suede: Clogs! You can go with the Gucci horsebit-detailed ones in the picture available from Netaporter for $795 or check the much less expensive options from UGG. Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 11.35.27 AMMy UGGs were quite a deal at $49,99 ! Yes you read correct. Here are my suede perforated clogs for the season:

Obsession #5 Perfume

Chanel Coco Noir. Maybe the most expensive of all Chanel’s perfumes (35 ml at about $125) but let me tell you: it’s pure black magic.

Obsession #6S – I meant iPhone 6S

My tweet at Apple’s last year event was:

You know, my obsession with rose gold dates back in 2013… or even earlier. When iPhone 6s finally arrives in rose gold, how can I ignore it? 14211-9572-iphone6s-spalsh-l

Obsession #7 Camel Coat

I know it’s kinda early and with the hot weather here my chances wearing a coat are rather low to zero. Maybe that’s why I haven’t bought one yet even if I have been lusting it for the last two years and believe it to be the ultimate winter wardrobe basic. I can still look for one though, right?

So, what are your obsessions for this season?

Try

No regrets about where my life path led. Just memories. Good ones and bad ones. Today I want to share a short story about me and compliment it with a song.
When I was in high school I took drums lessons. My dream back then and for a few years after I finished school was to work on MTV in UK where I could combine both my love for music and television. It didn’t quite work that way and it was only until later in my life I worked for television and much-much later until I picked up the drum sticks again.
Today my son and daughter share my passion for music and they make me proud of their achievements. Sure I am aware that I am less talented than my son or daughter, still I believe I have the right to try and do my best. So here is a song with a special meaning.
This week will be exactly one year since I underwent brain surgery and all I can say is I will never stop living my life to the fullest. What is my idea of a full life? Learning. Experiencing. Feeling. Never stop trying. In our busy lives we get consumed with all the little details and we ignore our inner voice, we neglect our inner child. Except for when we get surrounded by kids. Then, when we actually have to look into their eyes, we are reminded how easy it is to nurture our thirsty soul by simply acknowledging its ageless status. Only then we find a greater meaning and an excellent example to guide us to happiness. Just Try.

Olive Touch in Bahrain

We all know the benefits of olive oil to our health and wellbeing. Nevertheless, due to it’s chemical structure known to resemble our body’s natural oils, it is one of the most effective and powerful ingredients used by modern cosmetology. Greek cosmetics firm Olive Touch uses organic olive oil as the base for their complete line of face, body and hair personal care and they are now available in Bahrain. All you have to do is call Lilian at +973 34523151 to be informed of their top quality products or place your order.

Lilian will also be at the market organized in Janabiya Garden Compound in support of Young Athletes Bahrain, this Saturday 13/6 from 4 pm to 7:30pm so it’s a good opportunity for you to have a look on Olive Touch products.

Personally I tried their hand and nail cream which is of light texture, doesn’t feel greasy yet it moisturizes and conditions my tired hands instantly, as well as their body butter which is much heavier in texture but it leaves my skin summer perfect sheen and silky soft. In both the products I really loved the smell, a fresh scent. The prices are very affordable too with the hand cream at 5 bd and the body butter at 7 bd. Screen Shot 2015-06-11 at 12.49.18 PM
The reviews I have been receiving on their face products though tempt me to try at least their firming face serum and I am thinking of buying it at the market if it will still be in stock…

Playing in Nature

Where houses are abandoned, nature takes over and paints the town in summer’s golden hues. It’s time for reflection, time to love and feel loved, time to reunite with mother nature.

This is roughly the idea behind Maria Galati’s photoshoot who chose Zoe Manousaridou as her model to capture the sense of freedom one experiences when in interaction with nature. An actress, art director and manager of emerging music bands, Maria Galati wanted to simply express her idea through her lens and Zoe’s gypsy soul and country style channeled and delivered the message. Nature played her part too. Enjoy!

No kidding, it’s me not Kidman

Unaware of Etihad’s release of their new commercial and shortly after it, my husband took this picture of me on board Etihad’s flight to Abu Dhabi. And then… no kidman… ehm…I mean no kidding…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not comparing myself to Nicole Kidman, I’m simply comparing the two photos leaving the comments on you.

I have to admit though, traveling first class with Etihad had been a pleasure.

Kathmandu… Why?

Photo memories from my trip to Kathmandu back in 2009… Today I feel as sad as I felt when I first visited the emerald valley that has lost its shine under the heavy smog.

But most of all I wonder what happened to all these kids I met on the streets of the busy and dirty city. I just wish and hope God kept them safe.

Take me to the other side

I have been traveling a lot (yet again) this season but one of my favorite destinations where we go every winter for snowboard fun is Serfaus in Tyrol, Austria. It’s a beautiful village up in the mountains with an exceptional scenery and very friendly people, we have actually made some good friends there. This year we visited twice and during our second visit -without kids!- we had the time to walk around the village undisturbed and enjoy all the little details we’ve been missing when we are too busy with getting on our snowboards.. Hmm.. by just looking at these photos I simply smell the chilled fresh mountain air. Feel with me.

Just take me to the other side.

Padlocks left and right, I am feeling the bridge vibrating with love!

I checked the water. It’s damn freezing!

What an old house. But take a closer look:

Innsbruck and another bridge on our way back home. Just turn back the time and take me back to the other side from where I started this post.

Long Live Me then :)

IMG_9776

Another year older, another year (hopefully) wiser. But certainly another year loved. The kind of love it penetrates your heart and radiates back out in the colors of the rainbow.  I can’t describe how thankful I am for all the people I have in my life today. Far or near, family or friends, face to face or on social media they all wished me happy birthday and I feel grateful for the time they spent in their busy and demanding lives thinking about me even for a second, even with a sticker posted on my fb account…
As for Dona… my precious friend went the extra mile to get me peonies. Yes, peonies. In Bahrain. I found the bouquet when I went back home in the afternoon and I almost burst in tears.. She had read my thoughts here.
In the evening I enjoyed the perfect dinner (pizza) and drink (coke) prepared by my kids (my wanna-be waiters) who took my order, put some relaxing music in the candle-lit atmosphere and helped me cut my cake. I couldn’t think of a better party!

IMG_9782

I know I have been quiet for a while but I want you to know that I am thinking of you.
P.S. I love you.
